Spreading the word: a new KS1 topic that links famous people on the same theme: Caxton and Bell

Those of you who have shown an interest in this topic will be pleased to know that enough schools have enquired about it so that we have promoted it up our priority list for development.. I’m pleased to say that its taking great shape. We’ve still got some copyright clearance to sort out but subscribers can  request copies of draft planner and sample activities from 5th  May. The following killer activities give you a flavour of what’s to come:

a. Beyond sequencing to a living graph which shows the changing fortunes of the two men

b. Drama and tableaux reconstructing key events in the lives of the two men

c.Making a plaque that contains just 50 words each  man’s achievements

d. Bells and whistles. In small groups pupils use a bell or whistle sound to indicate whether a fact should be included on the plaque or not. Great fun. Just make sure they only blow when you tell them!!!

There is a high-quality assessment task, based on a motivating picture, and easy-to-use markscheme for Caxton too.
